What Is Shores Fine Arts Camp?

Shores Fine Arts Camp is unlike any performing arts experience in Hampton Roads.


We want to redeem the arts for Christ and give students the confidence to let their gifts shine.


This year we will be offering both theater and music classes designed to harness talent and teach fundamentals. As they hone their craft, students will feel ready to pursue the arts in the future.

Our Class Offerings

Each class will have two one week sessions.

Elementary Acting

Week 1: Fundamentals

Welcome to the wonderful world of acting and musical theater Learn how to use your voice, expressions, and body to express and emotion and characters.

Week 2: Prepare for Showcase

Showcase your skills and talents in a musical theater song selection from a popular broadway musical at our Performance Showcase.

Bucket Drumming Basics

Week 1: Fundamentals

Learn to play percussion through the fun and engaging art of bucket drumming. Find your rhythm, and increase your motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Bucket drumming is a style of percussion that is accessible to everyone!

Week 2: Prepare for Showcase

Prepare to perform a high energy percussion piece as an ensemble at our Performance Showcase.

Pitch Perfect!

Week 1: Fundamentals

A cappella means without instrumental accompaniment. Learn what it takes to be part of your own a cappella ensemble as you find a new sense of harmony and musicality.

Week 2: Prepare for Showcase

Our newly formed a cappella ensemble will perform a lively arrangement with gorgeous harmonies and lively rhythms for our Performance Showcase.

Improv Acting

Week 1: Fundamentals

Improv is spontaneous ensemble theatre where characters and scenes are made up on the spot.

Learn the foundational rules of Improv, play theater games, and perform spontaneous scenes in this lively class.

Week 2: Prepare for Showcase

Our newly formed improve group will prepare for our Performance Showcase where they will create characters, relationships, and scenes… on the fly… based on audience suggestions.

Auditioning for the Stage

Week 1: Fundamentals

Young actors will polish their audition techniques to stand out in their next audition.

Learn how to pick out, practice, and perform songs that suit your voice

Use character and expression to showcase your acting chops.


Week 2: Prepare for Showcase

Actors will choose a song, monologue or two-person audition side to showcase their skills at our Performance Showcase

Piano For Singers

Week 1: Fundamentals

Vocal performers will learn how to read music and play their vocal line on the piano. They will also accompany themselves with chords and play scale warm ups!


Week 2: Prepare for Showcase

Musicians will fine tune a vocal selection paired with a piano arrangement for our Performance Showcase.

Piano Camp Level I

Week 1: Fundamentals

Young musicians will learn how to read, practice, and perform a song on the piano in a dynamic group setting.

Week 2: Prepare for Showcase

Young musicians will fine tune a song selection in preparation for our Performance Showcase.

Piano Camp Level II

Week 1: Fundamentals

Budding musicians will how to read and perform a song on the piano OR level up their current skills in a dynamic group setting.


Week 2: Prepare for Showcase

This week will focus on preparing and fine tuning a song selection for our Performance Showcase.

Music Around the World

Week 1: Fundamentals

Students will explore music from around the globe, documenting their findings and reactions in a musical passport. Learn about different cultures and instruments while visiting various countries.

Week 2: Prepare for Showcase

Students will present music from a chosen country in a musical review at our Performance Showcase.

Week 1: $125

Week 1 is when students learn the fundamentals.

This will be an instructional time where they get a deep dive into this fine art performing style.

Not ready to perform? Simply sign up for week 1 class only.

Week 2: $150

Week 2 is when students prepare for our Performance Showcase.

Students will learn what it takes to bring the foundational lessons they’ve learned and present each art style to an audience.

Students can choose to participate in Week 1 only

However, to participate in the Showcase, students will be required to take both weeks of classes.

Fine Arts Instructors

Bekah Conley

Theater Instructor

Camp Director

Mrs.Conley received her Master’s in Theater from Regent University in 2005. Since then, she has had the honor to teach theater classes to all ages — from young elementary to high school.

She has also directed musical and non-musical productions both at Shores and in the local community. Mrs. Conley has a special love for introducing young actors to improv theater.

Charlene Dismaya

Piano and Vocal Instructor

Mrs. Dismaya received her Bachelor's of Music from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2000. She has been teaching music since then, through private piano, voice, preschool, and elementary music. Currently, she is the High School Choral Director at Atlantic Shores Christian School and serves on the Worship Team at Real Life Christian Church. Her prayer is to use the Lord's gift of music to honor and glorify Him.

Sarah Belanger

Young Musicians Instructor

Mrs. Belanger is the ASCS elementary music teacher, Seahawks Honor Choir director, and Theater music director. She leads worship and has been a music instructor for over 15 years. She studied music at both Liberty University and Berklee College of Music and is an active member of NAfME and VMEA.
